Mobil 1 brings Kiwis home!

Posted by

It has been 51 years since Bruce McLaren and Chris Amon won the 24 hour race at Le Mans driving the original bit of Kiwi “Black Magic” – a black with silver stripe Ford GT40.

This weekend two Kiwis again stood on the winners podium. Congratulations to Brendon Hartley and Earl Bamber from New Zealand, and German driver Timo Bernhard on their epic win in this weekend’s 24 Hours of Le Mans. Their Mobil 1 equipped Porsche, part of a global alliance of Mobil 1 and Porsche, recovered from a serious mechanical problem early in the race, losing an hour, and returning 18 laps behind the leaders and in second last place to come through and take the win.

For Allied Lubricants, the occasion is doubly special; we are a proudly kiwi-owned business, and Exxon Mobil’s local partner, for the distribution of its quality range of oils and greases – including Mobil 1.

Congratulations again to the Brendon, Hartley and the rest of their Porsche team.
